DESCRIPTION
Jazz suites composed in the 1960s by pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls, re-arranged by Kārlis Vanags and newly recorded by the Maestro in 2021, together with the Latvian Radio Big band at the legendary Latvian Radio Studio.
The intial recordings for this album were made by using a vintage valve-based 1/4" 2-track Studer C37 tape recorder, which is considered to be the legend of the Studer professional studio recorder line. It was first released in 1960, and for the next 10 years remained as the main protagonist of many of the most famous album recordings of all time.
The Studer C37 used in this recording came from the legendary Riga Recording Studio, where the Soviet era label Melodiya (Мелодия) made recordings from the 1960s to the 1970s, and has been fully restored and carefully maintained by Mārtiņš Saulespurēns.
This album was recorded live direct to analog tape without any editing or overdubbing.
